More Crafty-ness…

So being a card maker.. I had to make my Mom’s Mother’s day card right! And Mother’s day happened to be right after we moved, so I certainly felt some pressure to get back in the saddle and make something great!

Well, I think I did ok.. what do you think….

This is my Momma’s card. I love this paper and I love the TopNote die I just got as a hostess reward from my Stampin’ up club! (I know.. but hey they have great dies and punches and stuff too..) Anyway… I thought it turned out really nice.

This is my Mother in Law’s  card from my hubby.. He went through my card stash and made this one his own by adding a scanned picture of him with his mommy. Wasn’t he cute! I thought it was a sweet way to personalize this card special for his Momma. Great job Will!

New house semi moved in.

So it’s been about a month since we moved in to our new house.. we have been super busy with Boy Scouts and Softball.. but we have managed to get some things done around the house..

The most important room in the house is my Mom Cave. It is in the front of the house and has a vaulted ceiling. Here are some before pictures of the space…

Here is what it looks like now.. still needs to be painted but it is a start..

Here is the front door area.. Kind of funky right now but I will work on it.. I am thinking of a hall tree here on the right of the door..

2011-05-18 20.14.30Here is the piano on the stair wall..

2011-05-18 20.14.45and the computer area.. I still need a little skirt on the computer desk to hide all the cables, the printer and eventually the computer tower and file holder too… I need to get a couple more of the cubes for paper to go next to these…oh and window treatments…

This is my craft desk and shelves.. this is taken from the entry table.

2011-05-18 18.46.25This is the front of my desk.. It's not meant to be free standing in the room so I had to hide it with this curtain. I love the way it looks.

2011-05-18 20.14.57This is my little reading nook/guest crafter area…I love being able to sit there and watch all the kids playing out side.

2011-05-18 18.36.59This is the view from my reading chair in the corner.. I love these glass jars full of seashells.

2011-05-18 20.15.23Here is the massive white wall over the entry table…

I love this room with the exception of the massive white walls… That needs to be fixed soon. I am thinking either a buttery yellow or a soft sage green.. we will see. What do you think…

Crafty-ness…

Ok so I promised a little crafty-ness.. There hasn’t been much but here is what I have been up to..

2011-03-27 16.40.52

This paper Dahlia was one of the last things I did before the big move.. I saw it as a felt flower and thought I would try to make it from paper.. This is made from CTMH’s cardstock.. It was a lot of work but it is so pretty.. Well all except for the stapler holding it up that is…

Here’s how I did it…

2011-03-27 15.38.16

I cut the card stock into 3 different size squares.. 1 inch  1 1/4 inch  and 1 1/2 inch. I used about 20 of the 1 1/2 inch, 14 of the 1 1/4 inch, and 11 of the 1 inch. Then I cut them into this shape to form petals.. Not sure how to explain it, but this is what they look like..

2011-03-27 15.42.50

After they were all cut I inked the edges to give them some dimension.

Then I took a pencil and curled the petals around it to give them their shape.

I cut a 2 inch diameter circle to attach the petals on. I started on the outside and worked my way to the center. It took some time but with a lot of patience I was able to get it done. Once I had all the petals in place I made a simple spiral rosette for the center and added the bling.. I didn’t take pictures of the process.. I guess I was so lost in the doing of it.. sorry.. but you can see the original idea and tutorial here at HOLIDASH.COM

I had to change things a bit because I used paper and not felt but you can get the idea. I hope you like the idea and make one of your own! I may try it again with smaller petals to make a smaller flower.. or I might not… we shall see..

Next up… Mother’s day cards!

Long time no blog!

Hey there! Boy it has been a very long time! I don’t even remember the last time I sat down and even thought about blogging!

Lot’s has happened since my last post. Well, let’s see… I guess really just one main thing happened.. I moved! It was a lot of work. I feel like I packed for months and yet I was still frantically throwing things in boxes at the last minute. We moved on Easter weekend and then had the “family” over for dinner on Easter Sunday.. Crazy I know! but my wonderful sister in law did all the cooking at her house and brought it over. My brother in law helped with hanging some things on the walls so it didn’t feel quite so just moved in.. My Mom came and helped me unpack my craft room a bit and was there for general moral support during the “day after”. We have been so busy with the kids and their activities and such that it has taken so long to get things put where they need to be put. We are far from done but also far from where we started and I am so grateful.

So I think I will start with a house post and then show you what little crafty-ness I have been up to..

First up is the new house! I will show you some of my favorite things about the new house..2011-04-19 13.24.49

Isn’t it cute! Not a great picture but you get the idea. I love that it is Yellow!

2011-04-19 13.12.43

I love this! It is right inside the front door. Beautiful huh?!

2011-04-19 16.58.46

I love the floors! Cherry. SO pretty. I also love all the space.. I can’t show you space but it is there and I love it.. Now for the things I don’t love…

2011-04-19 13.15.48I don’t love the funky pink stained carpet.. This is after a professional shampooing..

2011-05-12 15.18.48 2011-05-12 15.18.55

I love the dog but not the funky raised garden and all of the bark left over from the old play structure.. both have to go!

First non-rainy day I did just that… well as much as I could anyway…

2011-05-12 18.16.492011-05-13 15.17.352011-05-13 15.17.49

Now I need to get a flower bed dug out so I can put the soil from the garden in it.. and bring in some fill dirt and sod for the old play structure area.. still lots of work.. The “girls” like their new digs though.

2011-05-13 15.17.582011-05-13 15.18.42

I used some of the bark to level their house and begin the new run.. We still have to build the new enclosure but it will be nice when it is all done.

That’s all the time I have for now.. Next up… Inside pictures.. semi moved in..See you soon!
