4th of July projects #3

So I bought this table about 6 years ago at a garage sale for $1 with the intention of doing something cute with it.. Excuse the pictures.. These are “before” pictures of the yard and they happened to have this old ugly table in them. Yay! since I didn’t take any before pictures of the table..

Here is what I finally did with it!

Isn’t it cute! I should have done this a long time ago! I love it painted! I have to admit that I really loved it primed white but I had bought the red for the table and I felt I had to use it.. I think it turned out quite nice actually! You can see another project I did last weekend to get my creative juices flowing. It’s some firecrackers for the 4th!

Hope you are having a great week!

4th of July projects #2.

So while working on the desk, and since I had the spray paint out I thought I would tackle this little table.. I didn’t take a before picture though : (  But here it is.. Isn’t it cute! it’s also fabric covered. Though I haven’t added the resin.. I didn’t have enough. There are about 8 coats of Mod Podge on it though…

4th of July weekend projects

So in a couple of weeks my best friend and her family will be here for a once every three year visit. I am really excited but also a little stressed because we just moved and I want to get the house and spare room ready for when they get here. So this weekend I have been busy getting a few things done. It all started with this desk…excuse the messy garage…2011-06-29 11.10.012011-06-29 11.10.32

As you can see it was pretty hideous. So I started sanding and realized that the top was Formica and it was chipped so I decided to take it off…

That left a yucky dinged up plywood top. I had to think about what to put on top so in the mean time I started painting.. It took a lot of paint.

2011-06-29 16.44.09

Looking better already! But I still had to figure out what to put on the top..Last weekend we went garage sale-ing and I bought a box of beautiful home décor fabric samples from a friend for $5. Such a deal.. So inspiration hit and I decided to cover the top of the desk with a piece of fabric… now off I went to see how others have done it.. because there is no reason to reinvent the wheel. So I googled it and found a great tutorial on Tatertotsandjello.BlogSpot.com. This is just what I wanted to do! Yay! And I already had some of the Pour on Resin that I have been too afraid to try..Well, as my daughter said, I had to face my fears. And so I did.. and I LOVE IT!

This fabric is gorgeous and I have left over that I am going to cover the lamp shade in the spare room!

Can you see that shine! Oh I love this stuff!

The handles were black and I spray painted them a hammered bronze. I love how it turned out. I am thinking about doing an antiquing glaze on the desk. I think the white is a little stark. But for now it looks pretty good! This is one of 5 projects I did this weekend. I will post another tomorrow! Happy 4th of July!~

What I have been up to this week…

Then this weekend I was busy with kids things on Saturday. But Sunday amongst the family stuff I managed to get some more unpacking done. So I moved a book shelf from my craft area to the kitchen and unpacked my serving dishes and tea set. I really like how it turned out. What do you think?

It may need some rearranging but I like the general look. And I am happy to have a place for my dishes!

Then We went to the goodwill outlet store and I found this great little breadbox I really like it and it hides a lot of “stuff”!  I also got this great little bench that will be my first project this summer. Sorry for the bad pictures. I am thinking about distressed black…2011-06-06 15.59.39

More Crafty-ness…

So being a card maker.. I had to make my Mom’s Mother’s day card right! And Mother’s day happened to be right after we moved, so I certainly felt some pressure to get back in the saddle and make something great!

Well, I think I did ok.. what do you think….

2011-05-07 19.36.58

This is my Momma’s card. I love this paper and I love the TopNote die I just got as a hostess reward from my Stampin’ up club! (I know.. but hey they have great dies and punches and stuff too..) Anyway… I thought it turned out really nice.

This is my Mother in Law’s  card from my hubby.. He went through my card stash and made this one his own by adding a scanned picture of him with his mommy. Wasn’t he cute! I thought it was a sweet way to personalize this card special for his Momma. Great job Will!

New house semi moved in.

So it’s been about a month since we moved in to our new house.. we have been super busy with Boy Scouts and Softball.. but we have managed to get some things done around the house..

The most important room in the house is my Mom Cave. It is in the front of the house and has a vaulted ceiling. Here are some before pictures of the space…

Here is what it looks like now.. still needs to be painted but it is a start..

2011-05-18 20.13.052011-05-18 20.13.15

Here is the front door area.. Kind of funky right now but I will work on it.. I am thinking of a hall tree here on the right of the door..

2011-05-12 18.23.18This is on the entry wall.

2011-05-18 20.14.30Here is the piano on the stair wall..

2011-05-18 20.14.45and the computer area.. I still need a little skirt on the computer desk to hide all the cables, the printer and eventually the computer tower and file holder too… I need to get a couple more of the cubes for paper to go next to these…oh and window treatments…

2011-05-17 17.16.54

This is my craft desk and shelves.. this is taken from the entry table.

2011-05-18 18.46.25This is the front of my desk.. It's not meant to be free standing in the room so I had to hide it with this curtain. I love the way it looks.

2011-05-18 20.14.57This is my little reading nook/guest crafter area…I love being able to sit there and watch all the kids playing out side.

2011-05-18 18.36.59This is the view from my reading chair in the corner.. I love these glass jars full of seashells.

2011-05-18 20.15.23Here is the massive white wall over the entry table…

2011-05-18 20.15.12Here are the massive white walls over the piano…2011-05-18 20.15.41Here is the massive white wall over the computer area…

I love this room with the exception of the massive white walls… That needs to be fixed soon. I am thinking either a buttery yellow or a soft sage green.. we will see. What do you think…
